Crusader Women Runners Impress at Paul Short

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In the biggest race to date this season, the Susquehanna women's cross country had an impressive showing at the prestigious Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.

The Crusader women placed 24th out of 40 teams in the Women's Brown Race. Division I Bucknell took home the team title.

Junior Ashley West (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) and freshman Kailynn Reilly (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) were again first and second, respectively, for SU. West posted a time of 22:59 on the 6k course while Reilly went 23:18, a career-best. A mere two seconds behind Reilly was sophomore Megan Wright (Winfield, Pa./Lewisburg Area) (23:20), who also set a PR.

Keirnan Dougherty (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) crossed the finish in 23:52 and Amy Kaschak (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) was barely over the 24-minute mark with her time of 24:05. Rachel Bachman (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) and Emily Leboffe (Morris, N.Y./Morris Central) rounded out the group with respective times of 24:10 and 24:20 with Leboffe's time marking a personal best.

The team is off from competition next weekend and returns to action on Oct. 18 at the Gettysburg Invitational.
